Working Together for a Better Future

In the past decade the Internet has made it possible for public information to be truly publicly accessible through online access to data. There have, however, been no legal or policy developments to parallel this dramatic change. To leave public data buried in a file cabinet or to provide online access to the database? These questions are being answered not by mature policy guidelines, or principles carefully developed to promote the public interest but rather by the ad hoc actions of public sector employees like us.

The Association of Public Sector Web Professionals believes that this is an issue that is too critical to be left to chance, that the level of discourse on the topic needs to be raised and that the circle of people contributing to the debate needs to be broadened. We invite web professionals, e-democracy advocates, academics, policy makers and all others to participate in this evolving discussion..
